20 Course Lunch Part 1

If anyone's interested in a 20 course lunch. You can have it. It is buffet style where you can re-order anything you like after being served 20 courses! (Sometimes, its 15. Depending on the day.) It is about 40+ per head after all the ++. Definitely worth going with your loved one. The experience is great because you get a personal server who will tend to your needs as well. Special attention especially when you take out your camera and whore every food item, making them think you're a food blogger. Hehe.

It is found at a place called 7atenine(pronounced as seven eight nine) at the esplanade. I think. I really am eating alot this holidays. Hehe. Not to mention Pete's Place with the mates. Hehe.. :)

May Babies Dinner

Lings, Jan and I did a combined birthday dinner sometime last week. Here's where we ate and as usual, we were all ready to catch up and gossip a little bit. I must say I was really impressed by the sandwich Jan had. It was amazing. I still can imagine the sauce lingered in my mouth hehe.

I refused to be photographed because yeah, truth is, I have had some major hair disasters with growing long hair. Haha, too sweaty, too hot, too longish and just getting in the way. (as we will soon see in some other birthday celebration posts).

Glad to have caught up with my friends. We started the journey of uni life together almost!

Thereafter, we had desserts and wine at Canele.

Enjoyed the evening with my friends. :)

Making a change at home

Making a change at home as part of my therapy to get out of dwelling and being dark means to be more involved in actually making change. After consulting with alot of interior pictures and inspirations, I settled on moving my current contemporary look towards a more tuscany/florence/italy type country home style. The main reason for that is to try to create a place for myself and my parents that is an escape from the rushrush urban lives we lead.

Below is the picture before and the picture after of some part of my room that I have started work on so far. The effect is created with intricate sponging techniques - meaning to actually take a sponge type brush and dab the wall until it is filled and continue doing it with the different layered colours till the desired effect.

The theme is Italy through the ages: thus expect the juxtaposition of tuscany/florence country homes against the modern clean sleek italian style. Do you like it? :)

I feel a little down today. I'm trying to make change constantly hoping to wake up and be excited about just something simple. But I don't know why I'm still up past midnight, thinking about past disappointments. And I ask myself, do I really give these disappointments so much credit as to become a heavyweight in my life. The date is 24th May 2009 and I'm being sleepless, defeatist and illogical.

I need a stroll by a river.. and just be peaceful..

Nabins Arabic Dinner With Leo

So, Leo and I decided to explore some Arabic food (actually it was listed as Greek in an online directory but the place closed). Thus, we ended up at the restaurant to find out that it was actually Arabic food. I must say, I think we ordered alot! That is the result of being a curious non-Arabic person to step in and want to try everything haha.

For my birthday, I received Roswell season 2 and 3 from Leo yay! This completes my collection since I got Roswell season 1 from my wooonderfriends! I love Roswell the TV Series. I'm wondering how many people actually watched it in those days? I've been waiting for ages for it to come out on DVD and to be stocked in Singapore so I'm super glad to have gotten it! Thanks people!! :)

Silly

Silly, because you're so far away
And I'm thinking margaritas and iguana.

Hair Diaries

Just like that, I woke up and decided that I could not continue sweating under the bangs I am keeping. Thus, today I went to get my hair adjusted. This is how it looks now.

And after showering off the wax. The colour comes out.

Our Bubbly Steamy Birthday Dinner Part 1

On Thursday, we decided to celebrate our bubbly steamy birthday for 3 friends! The theme of the party was blackwhitegrey and bubbly steaming hotpot dinner awaited us all at The Magic of ChongQing Hot Pot. Everyone dressed up to theme because there were prizes haha!
As you can see, Trufflemo was invited too and he was very much the star of the show as the May babies that evening. It was a nice night to just hang out after work, eat to the maximum and take some photos!

Street snaps taken by Cat.
Time for a haircut? YES. Major. Under this weather, my hair's totally chui dot com.

Our Bubbly Steamy Birthday Dinner Part 2

Some of the ladies lookin' fly... :) And Trufflemo being camwhored all the way was kinda cute dash hilarious. Haha they tried to feed him everything. I think su was the most high when she cuddled Trufflemo nonstop lol.. (what will be the fate of Trufflemo?) Lol...

Our Bubbly Steamy Birthday Dinner Part 3

The creators of Trufflemo? Haha, credit goes to Josiah though, for sewing him up and making him so loved by all.

Today I was born...

On 16th May,

I was born into this world.

On this special day, I received a special gift. This is a gift hand-sewn by a close friend of mine. Trufflemo (havent really thought of a name) as you can see, is actually my volcano chocolate. And in some ways, he represents a former me fused with a present me.

Along with the gift, was a collection of pictures of Trufflemo everywhere in everyday life. It reminded me of the endless camwhoring I always indulged in. Those included some snaps of Trufflemo on photobooth. I havent smiled for such a long time.

Trufflemo is happy and hopeful. Trufflemo likes to eat, read and wear caps.

I am reminded of the times when I was hopeful, dreaming of a simple dream: of creation. Wanting to make good in this world by bringing back the pureness of dreams and fantasy into people's lives. Many of us may have forgotten about JT, or the chocolates I used to make. I called this one volcano because it represented the mathematically calculated rationality we used to survive in the modern industrial society and yet with a soft molten core, it was gourmet and filled with the heart of the chocolatier.

Years have gone by since the times of the volcanos, they remain embedded as memories and as an iconic item in the story of my life and many others who dreamt the same dreams as I did: to be free to live and to dream the wildest dreams.

Along the way I became rather jaded and depressed. I started to question many things and the reasons we lived. But as I look at Trufflemo, he represents the smile and the happiness I used to have inside of me. The hopefulness for life and the enthusiasm for everything. I wonder if anyone remembered me that was this way?

I will come out from my depression/darkness.

Maybe remembering isn't such a bad thing.
And I had a great night out last night too. :)

Found Memories - New Zealand 2003

I found some old pictures amongst other things while sorting out my stuff this weekend. Here's some snapshots of my family in New Zealand in 2003.
Thats roughly about 6 years ago when I'm 18. Can you believe it? Time has really gone by so quickly. Looking at these pictures really remind me of how parents were when we were younger.

My parents always had this dream to travel the world, and throughout our childhood until up to today, we have been very privileged to have been to many places. This has certainly rubbed off on me as I too, have fallen in love with travels and sights, seeing places, things and culture.

Pictures are really amazing, they capture that moment in time which you never really bother about until you move so far away from these times, and you look back. It is then, you start to realize wow, it's so meaningful.

These were simple good ol' days. :-)

Today is Mother's Day! Part 1

Today is mother's day and we headed out for lunch at Galbiati Deli for some good simple authentic italian food. The place is nicely tucked away in Bukit Timah at Rail Mall and we were lucky to make a booking as the place was full.
One of the best things I like about Galbiati is the way the food is prepared in very simple, non-pretentious Italian style. This is unlike how many other mass consumer pseudo-italian places serve their dishes, thinking that more of everything mix and mash makes a dish better.
A nice sunday was spent with the family and I'm back home now soaking into the post-morning showers. I'm thinking about life and I almost half imagined that I'm not even in industrial Singapore. Life can be so good with good food and being away from the typical crowds.

My mom and my dad...

My brother and I ...

Today is Mother's Day! Part 2

Our lovely main courses:

And desserts were chocolate strawberry cake and creme brulee.
My mom also insisted on ta-paoing some good italian takeaways for dinner. Thus we bagged home some lasagnes, cottage pies, some herbed mushrooms and a pasta salad.
Cool stuff, we're eating Italian all day.
